2歳のときに「ママ、いつ妖精がやってきて、この体を変えてくれるの？」と聞いたジャズ・ジェニングスさんは、18歳にして全米でもっとも有名なtransgenderの人権活動家のひとりです。ジャズさんは先日、性別適合手術を受けて、待ち望んでいた女性の体になりました。今日のYouTubeで学ぶ英語は、彼女の軌跡を伝えるABCニュースです。

1.  “If people say to you are you a boy or a girl, what do you say?”  ” A girl !  ”  The Jennings, who have three older kids, faced backlash from allowing Jazz as such a young age to present publically as trans. More than ten years later, it’s something they still find themselves defending. “You’ve had to put up with a lot of withering criticism. What after all these years do you say to people who still have those doubts?”   “I would rather have a living daughter than a dead son, and I know that if I didn’t let this child be who she wanted to be there’s a good chance she wouldn’t be with us today.”
