新型コロナの感染者数が増加し続け、世界の学校も閉鎖しているところが多い状況ですが、最も影響を受けるのは少女たち。今日は、彼女たちの教育の機会が失われないように活動している人たちと、前大統領夫人ミシェル・オバマさんが語りあう動画で学びましょう。

The Girls Opportunity Allianceという団体は、オバマ財団が応援しているネットワーク的な連合体で、女子教育推進活動をおこなっている様々なグループの集まりです。新型コロナの感染者数が増加する中、もともと困難であった女子の教育に赤信号がともっていることに危機感をおぼえたメンバーがZoom会議をしているところで、ミシェル・オバマさんが話をします。最初の部分を聴いて、（　　）の中を書き取ってください。ひとつの（　　　）の中にひとつの単語とは限りません。＊動画には字幕がついているので、そちらを読まずに、まず耳だけで確認してみましょう。

COVID has created more inequalities for girls. These’s  a difference even between private and public schools and now we see from people who have internet and those who don’t have internet, and girls in situations that don’t have （　7　） They’re really locked out and that, you know, that is really a bigger impact. And just learning to （　　8　　） your team so that in communities where there are girls, that’s where you have your team, too, so that they can be there to have to support the girls.　新型コロナウイルスは、少女にとってのより大きな不平等を生み出しています。私立校と公立校の間にも不平等がありますし、インターネットを持っている人と持っていない人の差もあります。そして、（ネットも）交通手段も持たない状況にある女の子の不平等があります。女子たちは完全に締め出されていて、本当に大きな影響が出ているのです。なので、私はチームを分散させることを学んでいるところです。女の子がいるコミュニティにこそチームのメンバーがいるべきで、そうすれば現場で女の子を支援することが出来るからです。

Schools being points of access for supplies like sanitary pads or like additional medical treatment or like some psychological support for the girls,  and now that those points of access are closed. （　　　　　　8　　　　　　）Another main worry is identifying not only the girls that are facing hardships because of the pandemic, but having that ability to spot those girls who are at  the biggest risk of not returning when things go back to the （　　9　　）, and who won’t be able to return to continuing their education.　学校は、生理用ナプキンやその他の医療品や、少女の精神的サポートになるような物資の配布場所だったのですが、現在そうした場所が閉鎖されているのです。物資の配分が大きな問題になっています。もうひとつの大きな心配は、パンデミックのために困難な状況にある少女たちを見つけだすだけではなく、新たな日常を取り戻したとき、教育を受けることができない少女が誰なのかを見極められるかどうかということです。

筆者も経験したことですが、コロナ禍の現在、日本よりも厳しいロックダウン状態に置かれている発展途上の地域で、必要な支援をおこなうのはますます困難になっています。大きな問題のひとつは、人や物資の移動が制限されていること。もうひとつは、世界的規模の経済危機で、予算が削られていることです。今こそ、助け合いの精神を発揮し、The Girls Opportunity Allianceのようなネットワークの仲間の情報、経験、物資などを分かち合って、この困難な時代を乗り切っていく必要があります。ぜひ、各団体のホームページを読んで学びを深めると同時に、出来る協力があれば積極的に参加してみてください。よろしくお願いいたします。
